GENETIC ENGINEERING: PROBLEMS OF LEGAL REGULATION

Abstract: the article discusses the legal aspects of regulating relationships related to gene editing of somatic cells and the germ line. It presents examples of the international practice of using these technologies and the opinions of scientists on issues of legal regulation. The question is raised to create an international legal concept and legal principles defining the limits of permissible scientific research in the field of human genetic engineering. The introduction of an international moratorium on editing the germ-line genome, the formation of a transnational scientific platform for scientists and practitioners in the field of genetic engineering, will allow formulating the main directions of development of legal thought in the field of genetic engineering.
