Abstract: based on the study of law enforcement practice the article discusses debatable questions about the development of recommendations on the use of certain canonical provisions of Islam in law enforcement activities of the internal affairs bodies. At the same time, the authors emphasize that modern concepts of Islam are in no way considered from the point of view of their integration into the legal system of the Russian state, but it is proposed to evaluate the possibility of their adaptation to the tasks of law enforcement activities of the internal affairs bodies. Analysis of the activities of the police in the North Caucasus Federal District indicates the urgency of the problem. The article highlights objective factors indicating a significant influence of the religious factor in the process of involving citizens by internal affairs agencies in solving problems of crime control and law enforcement. Special attention is focused on the use of religious beliefs of the inhabitants of the North Caucasus in the motivation to assist law enforcement agencies in various forms. The authors, citing the results of their research, come to the conclusion that it is necessary to introduce special courses, sections and blocks of disciplines in the training programs for law enforcement officers located in the North Caucasus, providing for familiarization with the main provisions of Islam. Their knowledge by police officers and their continued use in professional activities will increase the confidence of citizens professing Islam to state officials.
